  1. I’m the kind of guy who favors function over looks and sees no reason to spend big $$ on a fancy new bumper just to mount a winch. As such, I really like Body Armor’s new JK-3105 Winch Plate for the Wrangler’s OEM bumper.

One question though: what happened to the stock tow hooks; are they not compatible with the winch plate?

Please tell me I’m not the only one who questions the wisdom of sacrificing the two front recovery points to simply mount a winch…

    • Dave,

I received your note about our new JK-3105. You can retain the factory tow hooks. You will need to remove the pressed in bolts that are part of the tow hooks. We chose to not re-use the tow hooks for 2 reasons. One is that many people will not want to go through the hassle of removing the factory studs, the second is that many Jeeps do not come with tow hooks.

I appreciate your comments about having a winch plate for the OEM bumper, this is one reason why we developed the JK-3105. But keep in mind that many people opt for a new bumper for protection to the vehicle not just a winch mount. The ability to have a winch installed is just an added benefit to purchasing a stronger bumper. Once you take the OEM bumper apart you will see how little protection the OEM front bumper gives.

Thank you again for your comments, please let us know if you have any other questions.

      Best Regards:
